Pour Your Heart Out/Alzheimer’s Iron Pour

Pour your Heart Out/ Alzheimer's Iron Pour
Date: Saturday, Feb. 15
Location: National Casting Center Foundry
Time: Noon to Dusk

Cost to Attend: Free/open to public - but there will be chili for sale in addition to a bake sale, a silent auction, raffle and of course the opportunity to make you own cast metal art.
Sponsored by: The Foundry Guild

You and members of the community are invited to participate in making their own "RELIEF SCULPTURE." With the help of foundry students you will be able to carve your own unique design which will then be cast in metal. This is open to adults and children with supervision; anyone can do it for a $10 donation to the charity. Or you can just come watch the action too!

All of the sculptures made will be cast in aluminum that day and participants will be able to take their "relief sculpture" home with them.

In addition to the casting of the relief sculptures will be several other exciting events including:
- Cupola Iron Pour featuring the Alzheimer's Glass and Iron One-Year Anniversary cake pour.
-Live & Silent Auction
-Raffle
-Coral Lambert's Volcano Furnace
-Reactionary sugar molds.
-Hanging reactionary glass molds.
-BAKE SALE - made possible by donations from the Alfred community.
-Music by D.J. Millhouse
-Chili and Guild Cheeses

Half of the proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Association, the other half will go towards the Foundry Guild’s travels to the 7th International Cast Iron Arts Conference in Latvia.

Pour Your Heart Out for Helene Lumia: Auctions

Pour your Heart Out For Helene Lumia: Live and Silent Auction
Date: Saturday, Feb. 15
Location: National Casting Center Foundry
Time: 4 - 5 P.M.
Cost to Attend: Free/open to public
Sponsored by: Sculpture/Dimensional Studies

POUR YOUR HEART OUT, Live auction hosted by Gerar Edizel, chair of Art History at Alfred University, will begin at 4:30 on Saturday, Feb. 15. Work by Coral Lambert, Angus Powers, Aesa Bjork and other faculty and alumni will all be up for auction with proceeds going to Helene Lumia. Helene is an Alfred alumni and role model to many current students.

Helene Lumia went into the emergency room on June 22, 2013 and received the news that all families pray not to hear. She was told she had a cyst on her spinal cord where it connects to her brain stem. She would need to have emergency surgery to remove it.
Helene fought hard through many surgeries and procedures; however, her spinal cord was severely damaged. She was transferred to Atlanta, Georgia for intensive physical therapy, hopeful that she would be able to recover. Unfortunately, the damage done by the cyst was irreversible and Helene is now living her life as a quadriplegic. Please help raise money so that her family can bring her to live at home.

If you wish to donate artwork please drop it off at the Foundry or email Elise Betrus at ERB4@alfred.edu or Coral Lambert at lambertc@alfred.edu
