keynote speaker A'Lelia Bundles to Alfred.
A'Lelia, the great-great granddaughter of Madam CJ Walker, was a perfect addition to our advertising program. Students presented 12 posters to Wegmans Food markets for consideration as in store educational displays.

Fall 2007
D2D has spent the fall reinventing itself as the ART FORCE FIVE.
The AF5 is a group of five artisits who visit schools and inspire young artists.
We have vistited 2nd Grade Classes and look forward to many more performances throughout the fall.

NYC School Visit on May 21
ALFRED, NY, May 2007–Fighting ignorance with their unique brand of
diversity education, six Alfred University students will be presenting
a comic book-based education program to a Brooklyn school on Monday, May 21.

Passages Academy is a Department of Education high school program for incarcerated youth between the ages of nine and 17. Passages Academy is housed within the Department of Juvenile Justice facilities. Students arrive at Passages Academy through Supreme and Family courts action
NYC-Area Libraries Sought for August Tour
Alfred University’s Drawn to Diversity program is a multi-faceted presentation which combines a comic book exhibit, history lecture, and drawing lessons for youth of all ages. is hoped will be scheduled for a series of shows in NYC-area libraries in early August.

March 17th Event Re-Cap and NYC News
Please excuse the long delay in getting up some news about the March 17th event.
Despite a snowy weekend, the event was a big success, over 90 children attended our daytime drawing workshop.
Charlos Gary and Jerry Craft were awesome with the kids and spoke in the evening about their careers in comics. Look for photos to be posted soon.

Drawn to Diversity 2 - Coming Up on March 17th
On March 17, Alfred University will host the postponed 2007 Drawn to Diversity: An Exploration of Diversity in Newspaper Comic Strips. Comic strip artists are stepping up to take the place of legendary cartoonist Morrie Turner (who fell ill before the February 3rd event) include Charlos Gary, Tim Jackson, Jerry Craft and Cory Thomas.
EVENT SCHEDULE
4pm - Cartooning lessons for children ages 6-17. Free lessons, sketch pad, and pizza party for all participants. Powell Campus Center.
7pm - History show performed by AU students. Interactive, funny, appropriate for all ages. Holmes Auditorium.
8pm - Visiting artists panel. Get an inside look at the comic strip industry and find out how these artists represent their unique viewpoint. Holmes Auditorium.

ALFRED UNIVERSITY ATTENDS NY COMIC CON
Well, we had a great time at our first Comic Con Booth. Eight students and two professionals traveled to NYC this past weekend. We met tons of librarians and teachers who expressed interest in hosting our traveling show. We also made contacts with some impressive companies including BET and Sci-Fi Channel. Look for lots of details to be added soon. For now, here are some pictures.
AU met Reginald Hudlin, President of BET Entertainment. He spoke at two panels and unveiled BET's new animation line.

More Event News
On February 22, eight Alfred University students will bring Drawn to Diversity to the New York Comic Convention at NYC's Javitz Center. The conference runs for three days and you can find Alfred in Booth 350. We are also selling our posters and raffling off a cool gift basket.
In May 2007, the Drawn to Diversity program hopes to tour several NYC schools and share our message. Look for tour dates to develop and be posted soon. Contact us if your school may be interested.
