Off-Campus Living The Town and Village of Alfred, New York are distinguished by their rural setting, the vibrancy of a collegiate atmosphere, the intimate size of the neighborhoods and business center, and a spirit defined by friendly and caring residents. The Town and Village are fortunate to host the students, faculty and staff of two institutions of higher education. Alfred State College and Alfred University provide a level of stability and promise to the area that is not typical in this corner of Western New York. When you move off-campus, remember that wherever you rent, you are moving into someone’s neighborhood. Senior citizens, families with small children, and your faculty and staff live in Alfred and the surrounding communities. Some simple common-sense courtesies will make your home life more pleasant for you and for everyone around you. Among the many things neighbors must share is the responsibility for keeping the neighborhood clean, safe and hospitable. Everyone in your neighborhood, including you is subject to the laws and ordinances of the Town, Village or City in which you choose to live. In addition, when you move off-campus you have certain rights as a tenant, if you choose to rent. We would like to help you critically assess your opportunities and make a good decision before you sign a lease. Requirements to move Off-Campus.
