| Alfred Community Coalition
The Alfred Community Coalition is comprised of members from Alfred University, Alfred State College and the Village and Town of Alfred who are dedicated to addressing issues that arise regarding students living in the Alfred community. The Coalition works proactively to reduce high risk behaviors of students in the community. The Coalition also is committed to promote responsible decision-making of college students and to educate students on their rights and responsibilities as good neighbors and citizens in the Village and Town of Alfred.

Accomplishments from last year
- Partnered with the Olean Center for Resolution and Justice to offer mediation training to ASC, AU and Village residents, in preparation for a mediation option to the court or campus judicial system.
- Created a successful celebration event to recognize individuals and businesses who have positively contributed to the Alfred Community.
- Expanded on education for students at both campuses who intend to move off campus, including a risk management seminar.
- Discussed and collaborated on partnership efforts when any of the Coalition entities has to respond to a large-scale emergency.
- Contributed to a safe and fun Hot Dog Day weekend with a record low number of serious alcohol-related incidents.
Thank you to all the town, village, college and university community members who have contributed to allow us to reach these goals.
Goals for 2009-10
- Pursue discussions with local alcohol providers (bar owners and local store owners) to emphasize responsible provision of alcohol beverage service and recognize those vendors who are already utilizing responsible practices.
- Increase participation from students and property owners in risk management seminars
- Continue with Alfred Community Coalition annual recognition event, soliciting nominations from Alfred residents.
- Advocate for continued enhancements for a safer Hot Dog Day
- Create a website for students on both campuses and property owners on how to have a safe party.
- Continue with implementation of community restorative justice program that allows for mediation between students and village residents.
