Student Equipment Lending Program
student
The ITS Student Equipment Lending Program is located in Perlman Hall, 3rd Floor, and can be contacted at x3009. Equipment lending can bring you the freedom to travel or the freedom from crowded labs. And the best part is….it’s free.

The ITS Equipment Lending Department includes laptops (Mac and PC), projectors, digital cameras, and a digital camcorder.

What are the requirements to get such great stuff you ask!? Why it’s simple…

  • You must be a current Student at Alfred University
  • Owe no late or damage fees
  • Agree to the Student Equipment Lending Policy

To register for equipment borrowing, you must visit Perlman Hall, 3rd floor, and complete a registration form. Bring your student ID with you for identification. Before borrowing equipment you need to be aware of the following policy:

ITS Student Equipment Lending Policy

  • The person who checks out the equipment is solely responsible for it and all its components.
  • The person who checks out the equipment must be the one returning the equipment and will sign a check out and check in receipt at both times.
  • ITS equipment can only be checked out by current Alfred University Students.
  • Laptops, projectors, digital cameras, and digital camcorders can be checked out 6 times a semester, per equipment type, per student. Students will have a 24-hour waiting period before checking out the same equipment.
  • Laptops and wireless cards may be borrowed for 7 days. Digital Cameras are available for 3 days. Projectors are packaged with a laptop and may be borrowed for 24 hours.
  • If any equipment or any of its components are returned late, the student will be a charged a fee of $1.00 PER HOUR.
  • Late fees are to be paid at the time the equipment is returned.
  • If damage or loss of equipment or components occurs the borrower will be billed for the cost of the repair or replacement including shipping, labor and parts. Alfred University cannot do repairs to equipment that is covered by a service contract. The full replacement cost of the laptops will be the rate applicable at that date from Gateway Computers or Apple Computers.
  • ITS reserves the right to revoke a student’s privilege to check out equipment for the remainder of the academic year if the student has abused their privileges. Examples include excessive or intentional physical abuse to the equipment or using the laptops for immoral purposes or those which go against the Alfred University Computer Use Policy. This decision is made at the discretion of the ITS staff.
  • All files created on the laptops should be saved to your U:drive, a zip disk, or a floppy disk. Hard drives will be wiped clean of any files after they have been returned to the Helpdesk.
  • ITS is not responsible for any lost files on the laptop.
  • ITS does not guarantee that the laptops’ battery packs will be fully charged (however, the battery will charge any time it is plugged in.)
  • Do not alter the equipment in any way. This includes adding software to the laptops.
  • Report problems with the equipment use to a Lending Consultant.
