Campus Computer Labs
issac

There are 6 open computer labs and 16 residence hall labs on campus. All open labs have Windows computers and a laser printer and are equipped with “Drive Shield .” This software provides security by returning the computer to its original configuration after it has been restarted. Therefore, any work saved to the computer will be lost when it is restarted.

Each residence hall lab has 2 Windows terminal computers and a Laserjet printer. They are open to the residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Priority is to be given to student work.

We recommend saving your work to your network AU account space, zip disk or floppy disk. In fact, save it in two different locations. Be aware that floppy, zip disks, pen drives and CD's can die unexpectedly. For instructions to access your network AU account space go here.

If you are out of paper or toner in the residence hall labs, please contact your RA and they will get the supplies fro Res. Life.

If the printer is out of paper or toner in the open labs, please email the Helpdesk at helpdesk@alfred.edu or call x2222 and we will get supplies to you ASAP.

Please observe the following guidelines:

  • Recycle paper when possible.
  • Print only the final copy of your paper.
  • Do not use the printer as a copy machine! Printer abuse will result in its removal from the lab.
  • Do not put transparencies through the printer! Attempting to make transparencies will cause serious damage to the printer. The Helpdesk has a color printer you may use for transparencies.
