Our Mission Statement

The Mission of the Office of Public Safety at Alfred University is to provide a safe and secure environment to the students, faculty, staff and visitors of Alfred University. The office will serve, guide and protect the Alfred University Community and visitors throughout campus. The Office of Public Safety is assigned the primary responsibility of providing expertise and support services to enhance the institution's educational mission.

All members of the Office of Public Safety are expected to actively participate in the achievement of these goals. Each member must posses the willingness and ability to work cooperatively with one another, as well as the campus community at large. The Office of Public Safety is also expected to work closely and effectively with a culturally and socially diverse and rich campus community where others values are encouraged to be shared, accepted, and appreciated.

The Chief of Public Safety embraces an open door policy in Public Safety. Every member of the Public Safety staff is readily available to meet with any member of the University community to discuss a problem or concern they may have, or to simply serve as an advisor on campus issues related to safety on campus. Comments and suggestions may be submitted to the Chief of Public Safety.

Office Hours and Location

In case of emergency, please call 911. For all other calls, please call our Public Safety Office at 607-871-2108.

Hours

The Public Safety Office is open 24 hours and provides around-the-clock support to the campus community.

Location

The Public Safety Office is located in Powell Campus Center on the 2nd Floor by the Bookstore.

Emergency Response

Alfred University uses RAVE Alert to broadcast text, email, voice, and fax alerts to students, faculty, and staff in the event of an emergency. Students are automatically registered. Printable Emergency Response Resource Guide

Lost and Found

Found items can be turned into the Public Safety office during normal business hours. Lost items can also be posted on the Lost and Found Board.
