Tutoring Support

The Center for Academic Success provides tutoring support to Alfred University students in a wide variety of disciplines. Tutors are typically undergraduate or graduate students who have been recommended by faculty members and who have done well in the target course or discipline.

Learning Labs

Learning Labs have regular hours each week, during which students can stop by to work through difficult course material, study for exams, and get assistance with homework. Two-four tutors are available during scheduled hours to help with a variety of courses in the target discipline. Please see the Learning Lab schedule for datails regarding session days, times, and locations.

Additional Assistance

If you need assistance with a class that is not supported by Supplemental Instruction or one of the Learning Labs, please take advantage of the following resources:

  • Your instructor's office hours (you can also email your instructor to set up a meeting).
  • Peer study groups-research shows that students learn more when studying together.
  • Academic Skills Workshops-CAS hosts several workshops throughout the semester that focus on a variety of topics such as note-taking, time-management, study skills, etc. The days and times of the workshops will be announced on Alfred Today.
  • Academic Consultation at CAS-set up a meeting with one of our consultants to discuss how to study more effectively, manage your time and tasks more efficiently, reduce test-anxiety, etc.
