Student Support Groups

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)/Narcotics Anonymous (NA)

This group follows the 12-step recovery process for beating the addiction to alcohol and other drugs. This on-going self-help group meets several times a week. The only requirement for this group is a desire to quit using or to stay clean. For meeting times, consult the Counseling & Student Development Center, 871-2300.

In addition to individual therapy, the Counseling and Wellness Center offer group therapy if there is enough interest in a specific topic. Groups offered in the past include Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOA), Eating Disorders, Non-traditional Students, Relationships, Sexual Victimization, and Separating Parents.

We currently offer a Recovery Group: AU’s recovery group provides confidential and compassionate support for students who are trying to stay clean and sober or are concerned about their drinking/using. Instead of using stereotypes, pressure or scare tactics, we will use honest, open and healthy discussion to sort through how using drugs and alcohol may challenge our health and wellness.

For more information, call the Counseling and Wellness Center, 607-871-2300.
