Web Standards : Responsibilities

Content Creators
All content creators must be trained to use Contribute, the University's content management system, in order to receive an access "key". A Contribute Manual is available in the Public folder of the U drive, U:\public\ITS\Contribute Instructions.

Individuals who are charged with maintaining or creating web content for the Alfred University website are responsible for complying with all University, local, state, and federal laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.

Content which the University deems to be in violation of these laws, regulations, policies or guidelines may be removed along with access to the offending page(s). Violators may also be prosecuted and/or disciplined.

All AU web content creators must be familiar with AU Web Standards, Visual Identity Standards and the Policy on the Use of Computing Facilities are Alfred University Information Technology Services.

The dean, department or organization head is ultimately responsible for validating the content of his/her area's official AU site.

Web Advisory Group(WAG)

  • The Web Advisory Group steers the priorities, content, navigation, and structure of the University websites.
  • The WAG gives the highest priority to applications that help us recruit students to the University or meet significant institutional needs.
  • The WAG decides where content should be located, based on both empirical and experiential information.

Web Team
The Web Team is responsible for making sure that all relevant standards, regulations, and guidelines are carried out in support of the University's mission and goals.

Oversight
The dean, department or organization head is ultimately responsible for the content of his/her area's official AU site.
