Adding a Network Printer to a Mac Computer

  1. Open System Preferences by clicking the apple in the top left of the screen                                 System Preferences Apple

  3. Control click the blank space at the top and select Customize Toolbox                                Adding a Printer
  4. Drag "Advanced" to the toolbar and select it                                Toolbar Advanced

    Type: Windows printer via spools
    Device: Another Device
    URL: smb://prt01win16pr/AU%20Print

  6. Do a test print and wait for the credentials to come up, enter in ALFRED.EDU\[username] with [username] being your Alfred University username. username and password PrinterThat should do it, it will send a job to the print queue on the Windows server and await them to release it at any copier.

    This technically works with the Generic Postscript driver, but a proper Toshiba driver would probably be best to take advantage of all the duplexing and such the copier has to offer, as well as possible issues with more complicated print jobs like PDFs.

    1. Click Support
    2. Click Drivers, MSDS, Manuals
    3. Search by Model
    4. Under E-Bridge Current Drivers Choose Mac OS X: Duplex, Color

You may need to update AU Print Keychain access password. To do this, please follow these instructions.

  1. Click the magnifying glass in the top right corner of your Mac screen.Magnifying Glass
  2. Type “Keychain Access” and click Keychain Access
  3. Search for AUPrint or prt01win16pr in Keychain Access, there is a search bar near the top of the windowSearch AU Printer
  4. Select AUPrint and delete the entry (you may need to press command (on the keyboard) + a left click to get it to show the delete option)
  5. Try to print and you should be prompted to sign in. Use your new Alfred University credentials in the following format: ALFRED.EDU\yourusername and your email password. If that doesn't work, please try your full @alfred.edu email address and password.

If you are having difficulties with accessing certain features of your printer, please contact ITS or 607-871-2222 so they can install the proper driver for the printer.
