Governor Cuomo's Office for New Americans has launched its second round of NaturalizeNY assisting New Yorkers with the path to citizenship. As a result, New York State will lottery off 1,500 vouchers that cover the cost of applying for U.S. citizenship (worth $725) as well as all associated legal services. The initiative is called NaturalizeNY <http://www.NaturalizeNY.o...> <http://www.NaturalizeNY.o...>.

The lottery is free to enter and open to all citizenship-eligible legal permanent residents (green card holders) residing in New York State who meet certain income requirements. This means that you do not have to be a SUNY affiliate to apply for the lottery. Anyone who meets the eligibility requirements can also register and win. To learn more about the lottery and to register, go to www.NaturalizeNY.org <http://www.NaturalizeNY.o...>. You can also call (800) 566-7636.

When you register for the lottery, you will be asked a short series of questions to determine your eligibility for the program. All information provided will be stored securely and is strictly confidential.

THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTERING IS JULY 28, 2017.

The Allegany Senior Foundation is sponsoring a day of science exploration at the Dresser Rand Challenger Learning Center in Allegany, NY, July 18. Registration is limited to the first 25 grandparent/grandchild (or surrogate) teams to sign up for what the senior foundation says will be a "day filled with science exploration that will stimulate children's imaginations and tickle their fantasies." Cost is $5 per person and will include bus transportation from the Allegany County Office for the Aging site at The Crossroads Building, Route 19, at Belvidere. Participants should plan on arriving at the The Crossroads Building no later than 10 a.m. Lunch will be served at the end of the "mission," and the young astronauts (and their grandparents) will be returned to The Crossroads Building about 1:30 p.m.
For additional information or to register, call the Office for the Aging at 585 268 9390. For more information about the Dresser Rand Challenger Learning Center, visit: http://drclc.org/
This event has been made possible by a generous gift from Sherry Walton and Charlie Joyce. The Allegany Senior Foundation extends our gratitude to them for their support.
