What is SafeZone?

"The Gay Alliance's SafeZone program was created to develop, enhance and maintain environments in workplaces, schools and other social settings that are culturally competent and supportive to LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) individuals, as well as straight, cisgender people who care about diversity, equality and inclusion." - http://www.gayalliance.org/safezonet.html

Individuals who have successfully completed a SafeZone training will be issued a sticker to be placed in their space to designate it as a SafeZone under their care. The sticker distributed from Alfred University trainings is displayed at the top of this page.

Are there trainers for SafeZone available at Alfred University?

Yes, current staff members who went through the Gay Alliance's Train-the-Trainer Certificate Program are:

When is training available?

SafeZone trainings for Alfred University faculty, staff and students will be made available throughout the academic year. Note that spaces available for any one training are limited to 25 participants.
