Welcome Week
You're Alfred University bound, so now what? Welcome Week! It's a series of fun and exciting events and opportunities to meet and connect with other new Saxons in your first few days at Alfred University.
Welcome Week is required for all new students. It will run from August 21 to August 24, 2025. Please refrain from planning any activities with your student after August 21, as they will be busy on campus with their peers.

This mandatory meeting will introduce you to some of the very important people in your neighborhood. These people are here to make your time here at Alfred University safe, fun and productive. We will discuss resources available for students in various situations.

Before lining up for Opening Convocation, the class of 2029 will meet at the Fiat Lux sign, next to the Powell Campus Center, for a class picture.

Allen Way a.k.a. Academic Alley
New Students will walk from the class picture to the McLane Center for Opening Convocation through the "Allen Walk" to officially begin our 189th year of learning.

Convocation is an important event that welcomes students to their journey at Alfred. President Mark Zupan and a representative from the Student Senate will give opening remarks.

Individual Residence Halls
One of the most important aspects of living in a residence hall is establishing community standards. This time is set aside for your first community “floor” meeting. Here, you will learn about the individuals you share space with on your floor and in your residential community, and also establish appropriate standards. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions of your RA and learn about residence life policies, which you are expected to follow.
