What is an Academic Consultant?

Academic Consultants are advanced graduate students in the Alfred University school psychology program who can assist you with developing and improving the skills necessary to be successful in college.

Who can use Academic Consultation?

  • Academic Consultation is available to all Alfred University students.
  • To make an appointment with an Academic Consultant you can call or email CAS.


  • Developing time-management, organization, note-taking and study skills.
  • Understanding and using effective learning strategies.
  • Identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding your academic success.
  • Identifying other campus resources that may be helpful to you.
  • Initial consultation appointments typically last about 45 minutes.
  • During your first meeting, the consultant will do an intake assessment to determine your strengths, interests and areas for improvement. Your consultant may assign you new strategies or exercises to try before your next meeting.
  • In later meetings, you and your consultant will continue to work together to apply personalized, research-based strategies to help you develop the skills you need to succeed in college.
  • Consultants may also refer you to other campus resources, such as the Wellness Center, the Career Development Center, your academic advisor, etc.

Hannah Baxter, M.A.Academic Consultant; Jackie Diana

Hannah earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Human Services from Elmira College. She went on to receive her Master’s in School Psychology from Alfred University, where she is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Psychology. In her free time, Hannah enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as going on walks with her dog. 

Academic Consultant; Abby NevillElizabeth Cartonia, M.A.

Elizabeth received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Canisius University and a Master’s Degree in School Psychology from Alfred University. Elizabeth is the cofounder and co-president of the PsychSoc club at Alfred University. In her spare time she likes to walk her dogs and read books.

Academic Consultant; Lanaiyah Morganelli

Lanaiyah Morganelli, B.A.

Lanaiyah received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Conflict Studies: Power Issues from SUNY Geneseo. She is currently a doctoral student in Alfred University’s School Psychology program. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, playing guitar, reading, and spending time with her cat.

Elena Parr, B.A.

Elena received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire. She is currently a graduate student pursuing a Master’s Degree in School Psychology from Alfred University. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends/family and watching true crime TV.

Emma Wiitanen, B.A.

Emma  received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University at Albany and is currently working on her Master’s Degree in School Psychology at Alfred University. In her free time, she loves to color, build Legos, watch Harry Potter, and go on walks!

Frankie Lowicz, B.S.

Frankie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and in Family and Child Sciences from Florida State University in 2022. In her spare time, she enjoys reading romantasy novels and going to the gym for self-care.

Laura Henderson, M.S.Ed.

Laura received her Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Marketing & Business Analytics, and Master's Degree in School Counseling, from Niagara University. She worked in Charlotte, NC as a School Counselor before moving to Upstate New York to pursue her Doctorate in School Psychology. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, dog, friends and family and also enjoys painting and drawing.
