Pap Smears

A PAP smear is a screening test for cervical cancer. It is performed by a health care provider and involves a vaginal exam and minimal scraping of the cervix for a sample of cells. The procedure usually takes a few minutes and has very minimal discomfort. At the same time, the provider may palpate the lower abdomen to assess the size and position of the ovaries.
