Save Energy by Turning Off Your Computer and Printer When Not in Use

According to research, it can cost up to $110.00 per year to operate a computer. If you turn off your computer when you are finished using it, you can lower that cost to $20.00 per year. That's a big savings when you consider the number of computers on the Alfred University campus.

Example

2000 computers on campus running 24/7 would cost $220,000 over the course of a year. Turning them off while not in use would lead to a yearly savings as high as $180,000!

For a greener Alfred, please turn off your computer when you are finished using it. As an alternative, you can save energy by putting your computer to sleep.
