Computer Lease Program

AU ITS offers a computer lease program which provides new computers to employees and departments every four years. A department may pay to acquire additional computers through the lease program.

Goals

  1. Ensure that each faculty or staff member has access to a computer that is sufficient to fulfill his/her responsibilities.
  2. Ensure access to computing resources in classrooms, labs, residence halls, libraries and other public areas in keeping with the mission of the institution.

How does it work?

Computers are replaced on a four-year cycle. At the beginning of a lease cycle, faculty and staff may select one Windows or Apple computer. Each computer comes with a standard software package. If a department or college requires specialized software, it must provide funding and support thereof.

Printers and other peripherals are not included in the leasing program and must be funded by the department. Only computers in the leasing program will be replaced by ITS after four years. Any computers purchased with departmental funds or one-time grant funding will not be replaced by ITS after four years.

Public lab computers are replaced every four years.

New Requests

Departments may join the lease program to replace existing computers, or to purchase additional computers. These requests should be directed to the appropriate Dean or division head, who will prioritize the requests and provide annual budget support.

If your division is interested in participating in the computer lease program, please contact the ITS Helpdesk or call 607-871-2222.
