Hardware Support for Faculty/Staff

Below is a list of hardware ITS supports for Faculty and Staff.

Hardware

In 1998 Alfred University embarked on an aggressive program to upgrade desktop computers for faculty and staff. Both Windows and Apple machines are supported. Equipment and software outside the supported standards are paid for from departmental funds.

Requests for equipment not included in the original lease agreement should be directed to the appropriate college dean.

What are the benefits of being added to the leasing plan?

There are several advantages to being added to the lease. Because the leased computers have our specialized AU software and uniform hardware, we are able to turn around repairs and service in a much shorter amount of time.

The Alfred University ITS Department is able to perform most repairs right on campus. This means we can directly order parts and perform repairs on our managed systems that are covered under warranty - no waiting for the system to ship back and forth from Apple or Dell.

Another large advantage is that you will have the benefit of a new computer every four years. You will not have to worry about the system getting sluggish several years down the road and trying to find money in your budget to purchase another computer. You will have already committed the funds to refreshing the technology on a timely, four year basis.

The cost of adding an additional system to the AU Lease Program (permanent budget reallocation from your account to the leasing budget).

  • PC Desktop - $200
  • PC Laptop - $300
  • Mac Desktop - $400
  • Mac Laptop - $450
